Cool Gift Ideas For The Car Nut In Your Life

Does your significant other have gasoline coursing through his veins? Does he spend half of his time talking about cars, motorsport and racing? Perhaps he often likes to debate displacement with you at the dinner table?

Any of those statements proves that your guy is a self-confessed car nut. If his birthday is coming up soon, you might instantly think to get him something auto-related as a gift. Of course, if you don’t know your crankshaft from your coolant, what should you buy him?

The good news is that I’m here to help you out! Keep reading to find out some brilliant gift ideas for the car nut in your life:

GPS Device (satellite navigation)

Just because your guy is a petrolhead doesn’t mean he’s any good at navigating himself to unfamiliar places! Let’s face it; most people have stopped using paper maps long ago. They were seldom easy to follow, and they’d be out of date as soon as you bought them.

GPS devices, known as “sat-nav” in some parts of the world, are gadgets that give you precise step by step directions. They are affordable, easy to use and versatile. You can use them in any vehicle that has a 12-volt socket for the charger.

My personal favorite is the Garmin Nuvi 58LM, but there are plenty of models out there to suit all needs and budgets.

Touch-Screen Car Stereo

You ought to consider upgrading your man’s car stereo with a touchscreen unit. Today’s models come with a plethora of features like GPS navigation, Bluetooth and more. I’ve even seen some models hooked up to backup cameras!

The people that buy touch-screen car stereos are usually ones that love gadgets and electronics. Just don’t expect such systems to be cheap though; it’s rare to find ones in the two-figure price range unless they are used!

Body Kit

Many car nuts love to customize their vehicles. One way they do so is to fit body kits to them, in an effort to make them look sportier. They are either aftermarket kits or ones fitted to better spec models as standard.

If money is no object, you could always buy a sweet-looking body kit for your guy’s car. Of course, you will need a body shop like The Auto Art to paint it and fit for you, so you’ll probably have to “borrow” your man’s car for a few days. Good luck finding an excuse to take his car from him though!

Driving Experience Day

Does your guy dream of getting behind the wheel of a Porsche 911 or Ferrari for a day? If so, you should take advantage of that fact and pay for him to go on a driving experience day as a special gift!

The way they work is simple. He turns up at a pre-agreed location such as a racing circuit and is greeted by his instructor and the car he will soon drive. He then gets shown how to handle the car at speed. And then he gets to drive it!

Driving experience days can get booked online and don’t cost a huge amount of money. They make the perfect gift for any car-obsessed man.
